1. What is Podcast?

Now with Podcast, you can subscribe to audios and videos via the podcasting software. The latest audio and video contents will automatically reach at your fingertips for your regular check-out of their availability. You may also download the files and transfer them to play back anytime on a portable media player (mp3/mp4).

2. Do I have to pay for subscribing to RTHK Podcasts?

No. The “RTHK Podcasts” is a free service. You can subscribe to any programme you like.

3. How to subscribe and download Podcast programmes on a desktop computer?

Use iTunes to subscribe and download RTHK programmes (Users should first load the iTunes software by themselves) :

a.Press the “iTunes” button on the podcast programme page.

b.In case of being enquired by the browser, please confirm to open the link with iTunes.

c.Upon successfully subscribe to a programme, the latest episode would be automatically added to the “Unplayed” list in iTunes. You may double click any episode in the “Unplayed” or “Feed” list of the subscribed programmes to play them online.

d.To download the episode, you may click the download button (the cloud icon) on the right hand side of every episode, or right-click on the programme in the programme list on the left hand side, and select “Download All” to download every episode in the feed.

e.To delete a downloaded episode, select the episode and right-click on it, select “Delete Download”.

Use Firefox “Live Bookmark” to subscribe RTHK programmes (Users should first load the Firefox web browser by themselves) :

a.Use Firefox to visit RTHK Podcast page. On the podcast programme page, press the “RSS Feed” button.

b.The browser would display the information of the RSS Feed. At the top of the page, please select subscribing the podcast by “Live Bookmarks” and press the “Subscribe Now” button.

c. Press the “Subscribe” button to add “Live Bookmark”.

d.  The “Live Bookmark” of the programme would then be added to the bookmark list. By clicking on the bookmark, you would see the titles of the episodes.

e.By selecting the title, the browser would display the podcast page of that particular episode. From there you may play the episode online or download the episode.

4. How to subscribe to podcast programmes on your mobile phone/pc tablet?

For iOS Users:

a.If “Podcasts” is not pre-installed, please download and install "Podcasts" from App Store.

b.In the Podcast app, press the “Search” icon on the lower right hand corner. Input the RTHK programme title you would like to subscribe on the top of the screen.

c.By pressing “Search” on the keyboard, you may get the corresponding RTHK podcasts in the search result.

d.Select the programme, and press “Subscribe” button at the right hand side of the programme title to subscribe to a programme.

e.Press “My Podcast” icon on lower left of the screen to find the subscribed programmes. By selecting any episode from the “Unplayed” or “Feed” list, the episode would be played online.

f.To download an episode for playing offline, you may press the “．．．” icon at the right hand side of every episode and select “Download Episode”.

g.If you have to delete a downloaded episode, you may press the “．．．” icon at the right hand side of the downloaded episodes and select “Remove Download”.

For Android Users:

You may use any third party apps that support subscription to podcast, for example: Podcast Addict, Stitcher, etc., to subscribe to RTHK’s podcast programmes.

5. Is there any time-limit for RTHK's Podcast programmes?
In general, the programmes showcased are of the last 12 months.
6. Do I need a specially designed player to listen or watch the subscribed programmes?

No need. If your computer is readily connected to the internet, you may gain free access via free software, such as iTunes . You can also visit the RTHK Podcasts webpage to watch or listen the programmes directly.

7. Can I simply download some of the episodes without subscription?

Yes. You may click on the download button (see image) next to the selected programme once, and then follow the computer instructions.

8. What is the video/audio format of RTHK Podcasts?
The video format of RTHK Podcasts is MP4, whereas audios will be played on MP3 format.
