In children's fictions, rabbits are fed with carrots. In many television programmes and movies, hares are caught at their long ears. Surprisingly, these are wrong ways to rear and treat the bunnies.
Rosaline NG began to keep Toto, an ailing rabbit, seven years ago. To help her pet, Rosaline looked for information on rabbit care on the Internet. She has become one of the two volunteer educators in Hong Kong of U.S. House Rabbit Society. Recently she has published a collection of articles on rabbit care to share her experience with readers.
Mei KONG owns two rabbits, Mushroom and Peanut. At first her family did not allow her to bring in the second rabbit, for fear that she was not able to manage her study. Gradually, the rabbits have become members of the family. The well-being of the animals is the topic of discussions in family meetings. Thanks to the bunnies, the family has become warmer. Now in addition to taking care of her two rabbits, Mei also frequents Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) from time to time to give support to abandon rabbits.
Tong Tong has suffered from a head tilt. He has got dental problems recently, which have resulted in muscular necrosis. After the removal of damaged tissues, the wound developed into an ear infection. According to his vet, Tong Tong needs to take antibiotics every day until its passage. In three years﷿ time, the rabbit has visited the vet﷿s clinic for over 60 times. His owner, Apple TAM, has thought of giving it up, but she did not have the heart to do so, for she and her boyfriend have treated Tong Tong as their own kid.
In the programme, pop singer Tiffany LEE shares her experience in keeping a rabbit, which she has been taking care of for more than a year.
After all, human beings are sentimental.
