It's June 4th. That anniversary. And activists had already run into problems while wanting to commemorate the events of 21 years ago in 2010. On Wednesday, 2nd June 2010, the police returned the two statues and a relief sculpture, confiscated at the previous weekend, to the Hong Kong Alliance in Support of Patriotic Movements of China. On Saturday, 29th May 2010, the Alliance took the works to Times Square. When they arrived with the statues at 11a.m., they were confronted by more than 80 police officers. Officers from the Food and Environment Hygiene Department told the Alliance that it was breaching the law by displaying the exhibits without an entertainment license. They wanted the sculptures moved. When the protesters refused, the department confiscated them.
