Organisers claimed 30,000 people marched on January 1st, 2010. The police said 9,000. They also said they’d mobilised 1,000 officers to cover the event, a better service ratio than you’ll find in many restaurants or stores. Both sides were shooting video. But some complain that police videotaping can be used to intimidate and is an infringement on civil rights.




Following up on the arrest of Christina Chan on Saturday 9th Jan 2010, we look at the deteriorating relationship between police and protesters, and whether police are fully respecting the legal and human rights of political and social activists.
