On Tuesday's Backchat, minorities and languages. More and more attention is being paid to the linguistic problems that face ethnic minorities in Hong Kong. Learning Chinese without a Chinese speaking family environment can be challenging, and the written form makes high academic demands. Now schools, kindergartens, hospitals, the civil service and the police are exploring ways to improve contact with non-Chinese speakers, and overcome difficulties. What do you see as the priority areas for improvement, and what problems remain? Should there be more systematic education at Government Schools for non-Chinese? Is the answer more translations and translators? Are there significant areas where you simply don't need to speak or read Chinese? Call us on 2338266 or email email@example.com. After 9.20, walkways in Mong Kok.
