Rugby athlete Ah Ho had been suffering from his deteriorating hearing, which had continuously made his performance on the pitch go downhill. He had lost all his self-confidence, even his role as a core member in the rugby team was at risk. Since Ah Ho had always been thinking highly of himself while he did not want to be spurned in the end, he volunteered to leave the team which he had joined for years. Ah Ho finally joins a team which is neither of greater popularity nor larger scale than his previous team. He hopes his key role in the team can remain while his self-value which he has always been proud of can be maintained. Ah Ho has been prejudiced against the several deaf players in the new team, regarding them as “extras”. He feels like he is stuck like a beached whale having them as teammates. He thinks that they are a real pain in the neck as they have never felt ashamed for being deaf. Instead, they are proud of their disability. It is like forcing Ah Ho to expose his problem which he has been trying to avoid for a long time. However, Ah Ho’s impressions of them do change after he gradually has the chance to get in touch with them to understand their inner worlds and to feel their self-confidence as well as their passion for rugby. Through this, Ah Ho has found the true beauty of his deaf fellows and himself. At last, Ah Ho meets his old teammates on the pitch again. Yet, he has turned over a new leaf. He is now filled with confidence in himself and full of hope towards the future. And the old, restless Ah Ho has stayed in the past.
There are four children in the CHUNG family: the eldest brother CHUNG Ho (from “the Republic of White Mice”), the second eldest brother CHUNG Yeung (from a planet called “Ninja”), the youngest brother CHUNG Man, and the only girl CHUNG Yee. The boys all suffer from albinism, and CHUNG Yee is the only one who is in normal health condition. Nevertheless, they have been living a normal life of a normal family. They will quarrel or even fight with each other over trivial matters, and they will say they hate each other while in fact really care about each other. They are all good at Judo and they go to Judo class together. CHUNG Ho and CHUNG Yeung are also members of the Hong Kong Judo Team.
One day, the CHUNG’s learns that CHUNG Ho and CHUNG Yeung will represent Hong Kong to participate in a competition in Vietnam. Unfortunately, at the same time, it is also confirmed that a brain tumour has been found in CHUNG Ho’s head. CHUNG Yeung and CHUNG Yee decide that the four will sneaker out and spend a day on the beach while their mother is taking a business trip abroad, so that CHUNG Ho, who is suffering from albinism and cannot participate in outdoor activities, can fulfil his wish of playing water gun and riding inflatable boat at the beach.
