Date:2026-03-05

Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Malaysia’s Ministry of Communications to strengthen media collaboration and promote cultural exchange. The signing ceremony was held at the headquarters of Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM), officiated by Ms Angelina KwanYuen Yee, Director of Broadcasting, and Mr Ashwad Ismail, Director-General of RTM.

The MoU encompasses several key areas of cooperation, including joint productions highlighting the cultural and tourism attractions of Hong Kong and Malaysia, with the aim of encouraging greater mutual visits between the two destinations.  During the visit, Ms. Kwan met with Mr. Ismail, who recently assumed the role of Director-General of RTM, to explore future collaboration opportunities.  These include programme exchanges, co-productions, and talent development initiatives, which will foster the building of people-to-people bonds under the Belt and Road Initiative and deepen cultural ties between Hong Kong and the ASEAN region.

Ms Kwan emphasized that RTHK is committed to supporting the Government’s efforts to strengthen ties with ASEAN and to actively expand cooperation with broadcasters in the region. RTHK has already signed MoUs with broadcasting organisationsin Indonesia and Malaysia, thereby strengthening its international communication capacity, elevating Hong Kong’s media presence, and reinforcing its cultural standing within the Belt and Road region, Southeast Asia and globally.  RTHK is also in discussions with other ASEAN media organisations to further deepen collaboration. Looking ahead, RTHK will continue to leverage Hong Kong’s unique role as a connector between the Chinese Mainland and the world, telling the stories of the nation and Hong Kong, and promoting Chinese culture internationally.
