A group of protesters have demanded that an independent inquiry should be conducted into the death of Chow Tsz-Lok, who died on Friday after a suspected fall at a Tseung Kwan O carpark on Sunday night.

At the Citizens Press Conference, the protesters said the case shouldn’t be investigated by police, saying officers themselves should be a subject of investigation.

A spokesman for the group also questioned the reliability of police’s account of the incident.

“Is there something that the police are trying to hide? If more footage of evidence surface, will the police change their story once again?” he asked

Police denied they had entered the car park before Chow’s suspected fall, but later admitted that they had actually done so.

The briefing was also attended by a young person who said he was a friend of Chow and had known him for two years.

He said Chow had joined every protest since June. "We friends were doing what we could on the streets. We were dissatisfied with the tyranny of this government," the youth said, urging Hongkongers not to forget his spirit.
