Health authorities have reported 515 new coronavirus cases, noting that the increase in the past few days is linked to the recent easing of social distancing measures. 45 of the latest cases were linked to clusters of infections at bars in Central. Officials in Beijing say the capital city will gradually lift Covid-19 restrictions this week, as the number of infections stabilises. Schools there will reopen in phases, as Timmy Sung reports.

Authorities are warning Shanghai's 25 million residents that a resurgence of Omicron could halt the lifting of a two-month lockdown, which began on June 1. A handful of community infections has been found in the past few days. Shanghai resident, Shaun Rein, says one friend got locked-down for another 14 days because of positive cases. Rein, Founder and Managing Director of China Market Research Group, described the first few days of reopening as a "bungled operation". But he told Janice Wong that the situation had since improved.

A leading member of Beijing's top think tank on Hong Kong says he believes the SAR requires officials who have a security-related background or experience to govern the territory in the next decade. Lau Siu-kai says they have demonstrated more perseverance and loyalty than government administrative officers in recent years. Timmy Sung reports.

A technical glitch disrupted internet banking and ATM withdrawals for customers of HSBC and its sister bank, Hang Seng, for about two hours on Sunday. The two banks had carried out system upgrades or maintenance earlier in the day, and Francis Fong, honorary president of Hong Kong Information Technology Federation, says he believes the mishap was caused by the failure to resume normal banking operations after those operations. He spoke to Timmy Sung.

Sunday was World Environment Day, and a green group has called for more action to tackle plastic pollution here. The Green Earth says it has collected more than 43,000 plastic bottles in coastal clean-ups over the past year. Its senior project officer, Edmond Lau, called on authorities to implement a producer responsibility scheme (PPRS) on plastic bottles. He told Frank Yung that companies should bear most of the responsibility to cut plastic waste.

Until at least the 1950s, there were sightings of the South China Tiger in the New Territories. There were also infamous attacks, including two police officers killed in Fanling in 1915. In a new book, The Last Tigers of Hong Kong, author John Saeki writes about these powerful predators who roamed southern China until they were hunted to extinction in the wild. China has declared the launch of the Shenzhou-14 spacecraft "a complete success". Three astronauts on board are on a six-month mission to oversee construction of China's space station. Frank Yung reports.

Sunday was the fourth and final day of celebrations for Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee, marking her 70 years on the throne. During a surprise appearance on the balcony of Buckingham Palace, the Queen said she felt “humbled and deeply touched” by the celebrations held across the UK, despite not being at every event marking her reign. RTHK's London-based correspondent, Gavin Grey, told Samantha Butler that the Royal Family was pleased with the festivities.

US firm, Abbott, says it is restarting production at a baby formula plant. The plant in Michigan was closed in February because of contamination, leading to a US-wide shortage of the baby food. RTHK's US economics correspondent, Barry Wood, told Samantha Butler that it would be at least another week before supplies of infant formula could return to normal.
