The Hong Kong Obesity Society spoke to 500 adults and found that many admitted their weight has increased by an average of 10 percent since Covid-19 first hit Hong Kong. The Society for Community Organization says the government should raise the income limit so more elderly people can qualify for the monthly old-age living allowance. The group's deputy director, Sze Lai-shan, was commenting after the government announced changes from September, which would mean people aged 65 and over who meet income and asset limits can get $3,915 each month. Sze praised the policy change, but told Janice Wong that the income limit for families should be increased:

The government's Inter-departmental Counter Terrorism Unit is stepping up publicity in shops that sell chemicals to try to make it harder for terrorists to buy raw materials for making bombs. Officials from the unit hope this campaign, "Safe Community Pledge", will raise awareness of the terrorism threat among staff of hardware stores and logistics companies, as well as labs at universities and secondary schools. The French President Emmanuel Macron has suffered a major political setback, after his centrist coalition lost its parliamentary majority. His coalition, "Ensemble", lost about 100 seats, with major gains for both Marine Le Pen’s far-right party and a new alliance led by far-left leader Jean-Luc Mélenchon. He was Macron's opponent in April's presidential election and is now the main opposition leader.
