Health authorities have said dozens of students at a kindergarten in Kowloon Tong have been quarantined over a widening outbreak linked to a school bus route, as health officials reported over 3,400 new Covid-19 cases on Monday. Joanne Wong reports:
Contaminants found in cooking oils

The Consumer Council has warned shoppers to choose cooking oils carefully. The watchdog says it found contaminants or carcinogens in some popular products from supermarkets and department stores. Kelly Yu reports:
Greenpeace: Millions of disposable cups used each year

A green group has urged the government to map out a timetable to regulate disposable utensils. Greenpeace says the current plan to phase out dine-in plastic tableware by 2025 is not good enough. The group surveyed 1,005 people and found 37 percent were in the habit of buying takeaway coffee, consuming on average three cups per-week. It estimated that 400 million coffee cups were disposed of in a year. Greenpeace campaigner Leanne Tam told Kelly Yu that both the government and individuals had to play a part in waste reduction:

Hong Kong has been under a hot spell and the sweltering heat is not expected to end any time soon. The Observatory has forecast the mercury to stay above 33 degrees Celsius for the coming nine days, and even reach as high as 35 degrees. Louie Lobo, a senior lecturer from the Education University's Department of Health and Physical Education, told Vicky Wong that people should take precautions when playing sports in the heat:
Britain swelters under 'Meltdown Monday'

Britain is bracing for what is expected to be its hottest day ever, with the mercury forecast to reach as high as 41 degrees Celsius. On Monday, temperatures breached 38 degrees in Suffolk. British train companies cancelled services; a runway at an air force base reportedly melted in the heat and some schools closed, while officials urged the public to stay home and the government triggered a "national emergency" alert. RTHK's London-based correspondent, Kay Oliver, told Samantha Butler that some people dubbed the sweltering day as 'meltdown Monday':
