On Tuesday’s Backchat, children as victims in internet sex crimes; and the latest on US elections and Donald Trump's legal actions.

The number of cases involving young people blackmailed by online strangers using nude photos or videos has increased sharply in the last year. Many of the victims are males. Child pornography cases resulting from internet 'grooming' are also on the rise.

Police believed the surge was due to closure of schools during pandemic when students were stuck at home and made friends on the internet.

How can authorities better protect young people online? Are the perpetrators getting caught?
