The Education Bureau says primary schools can apply to resume full-day classes only if the vaccination rate of both teachers and students reaches 70 percent.
Children aged five to 11 can now receive the Sinovac jab, or choose to take the BioNTech vaccine from February 16.
Both primary and secondary schools have suspended face-to-face classes until after the Lunar New Year. Students are forced to stay at home as extra-curricular lessons are also moved online owing to the social distancing measures.
Meanwhile, a concern group says the situation for special educational needs students has worsened during the current fifth wave of the pandemic, and has urged the Financial Secretary, Paul Chan, to increase assistance for these children from grassroots families.
