 Hong Kong’s bars, nightclubs and saunas have been ordered to close again from tomorrow for the third time since the pandemic began. Catering venues and other designated premises will be required to display QR codes for the ‘Leave Home Safe’ government Covid-19 risk-notification app. 80 new coronavirus cases were reported in the SAR yesterday, with 54 related to an outbreak at dance studios across the territory.






Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam said she will unveil about 200 new initiatives during her annual policy address this morning. However, she said she would be constrained by a ballooning budget deficit, which she projected to hit HK$310 billion (US$40 billion) in the 2020-21 financial year. That’s well in excess of the HK$139.1 billion deficit estimated by Financial Secretary Paul Chan.





Global stocks have risen after President Trump committed to a smooth transfer of power to Joe Biden. Economic recovery stocks propelled indices higher around the world. The Dow closed at a record high above 30,000 and is on track for its best month since 1987.
