    National Security Education Day; Fukushima waste water

    On Thursday's Backchat, National Security Education Day and Fukushima waste water.
    The government has made April 15th National Security Education Day. The day will also mark the launch of the first National Security Education Day events organised by the Committee for Safeguarding National Security of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
    The event, with the theme of Uphold National Security × Safeguard Our Home - Improve Electoral System, Ensure Patriots Administering Hong Kong, aims to raise Hong Kong residents’ awareness on national security, create a positive atmosphere of national security, enhance the capacity to fend off national security risks, deepen understanding of the National Constitution, the Basic Law and national security, and foster national identity.
    There will be an opening ceremony and seminar, community and school mosaic wall activities as well as open days for academies of disciplined services and a national security exhibition.
    Will these activities raise the awareness of National Security? Why there's a need to educate the younger generations on the importance of National Security?
    From 9:15am-9:30am we'll be discussing Japan's plans to release into the sea more than 1 million tonnes of contaminated water from the destroyed Fukushima nuclear station.

    On Thursday's Backchat, the future of electric vehicles.

    The Financial Secretary has pledged to further promote the replacement of conventional private cars by electric vehicles.The Environment Bureau will announce later in this month Hong Kong's first roadmap on the popularisation of electric vehicles, with key measures including the ceasing of the new registration of fuel-propelled private vehicles in 2035.

    Is that a reasonable target? What are the pros and cons of no new petrol cars?  Do we have enough facilities to charge EVs? What else do we need to make the switch?
