Proposed amemdments to harbour protection laws / GPS network disruptions in Hong Kong

On Tuesday's Backchat, we're talking about developments surrounding the harbourfront.

In her weekly blog, the Secretary for Development, Bernadette Linn, said she expected promenades along the harbour to span 29 km in total length by the end of this year, with the hope of reaching 34 km by 2028.
The minister's comments came after the government gazetted the Protection of the Harbour (Amendment) Bill, to streamline the procedure for small-scale reclamations, for facilities such as piers and viewing decks.
A "presumption against reclamation" would still exist for large-scale developments.
After 9:45, we're talking about reports of GPS network disruptions having an impact on Hong Kong users over the weekend.

    主持人:Danny Gittings and Rainbow Leung

On Wednesday’s Backchat, we’re talking about a new measure which will require unemployed welfare recipients to do at least one hour of voluntary work per week from late next year onwards.

The move, which aims to help the jobless better integrate into society, will impact 16,000 Comprehensive Social Security Assistance beneficiaries aged 15-59, with those failing to comply losing one week of welfare benefits.
We’ll look into the impact of this new policy and ask social workers how they plan to put it into practice.
After 9:30, we'll talk about new pet import rules, which will cut the quarantine period from 120 to 30 days for cats and dogs from some destinations, starting with Macau.
After 9:45, we learn about a new survey on stress among customer service employees.
