主持人:Colin Aitchison
Music aficionado and band leader Colin Aitchison presents the musicians who were the huge, million-selling recording stars of an often forgotten era.
Before Bruno Mars, there was Bing Crosby, before the likes of Adele, there was Billie Holiday ... and before Justin Bieber ... well, where to start!?!
There’s some terrific music and stories from the ‘20s, ‘30s, ‘40s and ‘50s, plus a few laughs!
Every Sunday, 8.30am-9am
A party mood is being set by George Van Dusen from a vintage 45rpm record that Colin has dug out from his collection for another busy show. We’re Going Places with Joe Venuti, enjoying a rousing singalong with Lonnie Donegan’s Skiffle Group……with Chris Barber on bass!...and the “pep” is being provided by The Bugle Call Raggers from 1935.
Ahead of the official Remembrance Day ceremony taking place at the
Cenotaph in Central, later today, Colin presents his own tribute to
commemorate lives lost in World War I and World War II. Glenn Miller, George Formby and of course, the forces sweetheart, Dame Vera Lynn are among the nostalgic sound collage.
