Future Classics: Premieres of Hong Kong Composers’ Cantonese Music Works 2026

「未来的传统 — 香港作曲家粤乐创作发表会2026」由竹韵小集送上委约麦伟铸、谭逸升、黄学扬、杨健平、谢俊仁、陈锦标、陈明志及卢亮辉八位作曲家的新作，当中部份亦为演奏家，延续了粤乐传统艺人演奏与创作并举的特色。八首作品均以二至八人的室内乐形式演奏，有创作「旋律」让演奏者即兴加花演绎，亦有以多声部写作，把粤乐创作特色多元呈现。

竹韵小集「未来的传统」计划探讨当代中乐室内乐的创作空间，唤起大众对「香港中乐文化」薪火相传的重视。音乐发展与每个时代都是互相扣连，不同时代都有其独特的风格，除呼应着时代的转变，更为下一世代创造传统。计划通过推展所收集与委约的香港作曲家作品，探索如何以「植根传统」的理念来建构「未来的传统」。

“Future Classics: Premieres of Hong Kong Composers’ Cantonese Music Works 2026” presented by Windpipe Chinese Music Ensemble, features newly commissioned works by eight composers: Clarence Mak, Tam Yat-sing, Alfred Wong, Yeung Kin-ping, Tse Chun-yan, Joshua Chan, Chan Ming-chi and Lo Leung-fai. As some of these composers are also performers, continuing the Cantonese Music tradition where artists excel in both performance and composition. All eight pieces are presented in a chamber music format of two to eight musicians. Some pieces feature original “melodies” for performers to embellish through improvisation, while others employ polyphonic writing, displaying the diverse characteristics of Cantonese Music composition.

The “Future Classics” project by Windpipe Chinese Music Ensemble explores the creative space of contemporary Chinese chamber music, raising public awareness about passing the torch of Hong Kong Chinese music culture. Musical development is closely linked to every era, each possessing its own unique style. It not only responds to changing times but also creates traditions for the next generation. By promoting collected and commissioned works of Hong Kong composers, the project explores how to build the "Future Classics" through the concept of being “rooted in tradition”.
