Begun as a blended interpretation of African folk and European classical music in the early 1900s, jazz has evolved into one of the most inclusive art forms. Over the past century, the music genre has also contributed to social development in promoting intercultural dialogue and in enhancing mutual understanding. Artists across genres have been incorporating jazz with other musical forms to promote artistic innovations. Its boundless dimensions have in turn cultivated new listeners worldwide.

With the annual International Jazz Day coming up, Stop-time... will celebrate with you the virtue of jazz. Tell me the name of your favourite tune, regardless of the genre, by email to radio4@rthk.hk or leave a message on Radio 4’s Facebook page. It may be jazzed-up and featured in our Friday programme next month!
