Sang Lan, a young Chinese gymnast who sustained a paralyzing injury at the "Goodwill Games" on July 1998 in United States, is struggling for recovery. According to doctors, it was unlikely for Sang Lan to walk again. Despite her disability, Sang Lan determined not to allow herself lapse into despair. She did believe that she would walk again one day.

While Sang Lan was undergoing rehabilitation in New York, she has build up a close relationship with a Chinese American family - the Liu's. Many people called Sang Lan a "brave and incredible young lady". She had become an international symbol of courage and was very popular in United States.
