    被联合国教科文组织列为世界遗产的惊人保护区马丘比丘,分布于32,592公顷的山坡之上,隐没于秘鲁的茂密雨林之中。但世人对这个庞大保护区的认识,就只有冰山一角,这个令人惊艳的城市,矗立于海拔2,430米,每年都吸引八十万游客。这个遗址建于1450年,正值印加帝国国力顶峰时期。在许多人眼中,这个古文明,仍然是最神奇、最神秘的城市建筑。超过一个世纪以来,专家都集中研究这个城市的中心。但现今,藉着最新的技术,专家有办法回到过去,探索无法穿透的建筑,并逐渐向世人展示,马丘比丘一些尚未有游客踏足的地区。

    A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the incredible sanctuary of Machu Picchu covers 32,592 hectares of mountainous slopes buried in the heart of the dense Peruvian rainforest. But what the world knows of Machu Picchu is but a small fraction of this immense site: a breathtaking city, erected at 2430 meters above sea level, attracting more than 800 000 visitors each year. Built in 1450, when the Inca Empire was at its peak, it remains in the eyes of many, this ancient civilization’s most amazing and enigmatic urban creation. For more than a century, experts have focused their research on the heart of this city. But today, with the help of the latest technologies, they have the means go back in time to probe the impenetrable and gradually reveal areas of Machu Picchu that had remained invisible to the eyes of its visitors… Until now.
