Their rapid generational change allows quick environmental adaptation and diverse abilities. Modern science harnesses these for medicine and environmental protection. They aid digestion, protect bodies, and help other life adapt. Some even control animal ecology or maintain vital environmental systems. As Earth's shadow rulers and guardians, they enable life to flourish through interconnected support.

      昆虫求生志

      地球约有二百万个生物物种,昆虫占过半数,而且型态、能力各异,极富多样性。个中关键「完全变态」,更是昆虫的「独门秘技」,可以由幼虫到成虫,彻底改变形态、栖息地甚至摄食习性。本节目利用3D扫描影像,首次曝光蝶蛹蜕变的完整过程、分析蜜蜂的飞行技术;更会揭开寄生蚁群的古怪昆虫神秘面纱。节目揭示昆虫针对栖息地、天敌以至繁衍而作出的精密演化,以及昆虫在维持地球生态所扮演的重要角色。

      Insects account for more than half of all the 2 million species of living organisms on the Earth. They are life's most diverse group, largely due to "complete metamorphosis"—a unique process transforming them from larva to adult, changing form, habitat, and diet. Using 3D imagery, the program reveals this metamorphosis, analyzes bees' flight, and explores insects living in ant nests. To survive, reproduce, and find food, insects have become highly specialized. Some are now so vital that their environments depend on them. Understanding insect evolution shows their critical role in supporting our planet.

      Plants account for more than 95% of the Earth’s biomass. They are the most dominant group of terrestrial life on this planet. Because they do not travel or speak, their kingdom appears just quiet. But in fact, plants are sensing their surroundings by using dozens of highly sensitive sensors. They are also sending signals to each other, even across species. Cutting-edge science is beginning to reveal many surprising abilities of plants. Every day in our immediate environment, fairytale-like phenomena are actually happening; plants are chatting and help each other and even with other creatures. With special scientific imaging technology and ultrahigh-definition VFX images, the program depicts how they sense the world and communicate with each other. It shows a different picture of the Earth that there is another world unknown to us, in which plants live. What it suggests is that the rules of the Earth’s natural world are completely different from what we have thought so far. It is not just about the weak and the strong.
