Currently Principal Viola of the Hong Kong Sinfonietta and violist of the RTHK Quartet, Chan is one of the most active musicians in Hong Kong. He is also a founding member of the RTHK Quartet.

Chan enjoys chamber music collaborations, sharing the stage with eminent players such as Raphaël Sévère, Andrew Jennings, Todd Philips, Erling Bengtsson, Cathy Cho, Anthony Elliot, Aaron Berofsky, ArieLipsky, Ivan Chan, Warren Lee, Colleen Lee, Manfred Quartet, Grainger Quartet and the St. Petersburg Quartet. He has performed in all the major cities across all continents, in prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Centre, Suntory Hall (Tokyo) and Teatroalla Scala (Milan). As an active soloist, Chan has appeared with the Hong Kong Sinfonietta, Hong Kong Symphony and Michigan Chamber Orchestra. Chan has taken part in renowned summer festivals including the Spoleto Festival and Ann Arbor Chamber Music Festival.

As a passionate educator, Chan founded the Joint School Symphony Orchestra in 2009 and served as Music Director from 2009-2012. Chan is an adjunct lecturer at Baptist University and viola instructor at the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts. He is also the viola instructor at the Asian Youth Orchestra.

In 2003, Chan was honoured with the Earl V. Moore Award and Rosseels Scholarshipto study under renowned violist Yizhak Schotten and violinist Andrew Jennings, receiving dual Master Degrees in Viola Performance and Chamber Music at The University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
