Laurent Perrin Cello

Laurent studied the cello with G. Mallach in his native country Luxembourg, with L. Claret in Barcelona and with R. Wallfisch at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. He studied chamber music with the Borodin, Melos, Takacs and Amadeus String Quartets.
He was in residence at The Banff Centre for the Arts in Canada.

He also worked with Daniil Shafran and took part in Masterclasses with Frans Helmerson, Bernard Greenhouse, Gyorgy Sebok, Monique Deschaussees.
During his studies at the Guildhall School, he won the Dorothy Adams String Quartet Competition

At present he is Assistant Principal Cello with the Hong Kong Sinfonietta and teaches at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, the Chinese University and Baptist University.

Laurent has performed in China, Korea, Japan, Malaysia, Macau, Europe, the USA and Canada. In 2008, he did a 3 weeks tour of the United States with the Excelsior Piano Trio from Philadelphia.

A dedicated and inspiring teacher, his students have won prizes in competitions both locally and abroad. He has recorded several programs for RTHK Radio 4 as a musician as well as a presenter.
