Passenger and truck crossings at the Man Kam To Control Point have been suspended because of subsidence, Shenzhen authorities have announced.

In a statement released by Shenzhen's Office of Port of Entry and Exit, officials said services are suspended to ensure the safety of inbound vehicles.

It added that urgent repairs are underway.

The Transport Department said northbound coaches are being diverted to the Heung Yuen Wai Control Point, with departures every 45 minutes instead of every half an hour.

Secretary for Transport and Logistics Lam Sai-hung said supplies of fresh food to Hong Kong won't be affected.

"As we all know, most of the cargo passing through Man Kam To is fresh food. Because the southbound passageway isn't affected, we think the disruption to fresh food supplies to Hong Kong will not be huge," he said.

"The area of subsidence is under the mainland's jurisdiction. I believe mainland officials will study the situation and draw up a maintenance plan, one that will be satisfactory."
