RTHK Quartet’s 5th Anniversary Concert

The RTHK Quartet’s 5th Anniversary Concert was a curtain raiser to the climax of Radio 4 year-long birthday celebration. The concert took place on 7 October at City Hall Theatre. It was preceded by a reception which celebrated the 40th Anniversary of RTHK Radio 4. It was an exciting evening when RTHK colleagues, the Quartet’s members and guests gathered together to mark four decades of fine music broadcast in Hong Kong.
In fact, the Quartet gave two concerts in October. In the afternoon concert of 6 Oct, excerpts of masterpieces by Beethoven, Brahms and Haydn were performed. Two young musicians, Chris Choi (viola) and Jia Nan (cello) teamed up with the Quartet in the performance of Richard Strauss’ Sextet*.
The 5th Anniversary Concert took place on the following night. The Quartet gave the world première of Let There Be Light by Hong Kong composer Ng Cheuk-yin with the composer conducting.
