Hong Kong's Cheung Wai-ki has become the first local female footballer to join Australia's top-tier professional women's league. The Hong Kong international forward confirmed her contract with Brisbane Roar of the W-League and will report to camp in late September.
The 26-year-old once tried to pursue a professional career in Japan but had to give up due to family reasons. She's now expected to play in Brisbane's season opener on October 27 against Sydney FC.
Cheung came through the Rangers youth system before helping Citizen win the 2014-15 Hong Kong women's league title. She was the league's top scorer that season.
