The SAR's men's football team ended its winless run as it cruised to a 10-0 demolition of Brunei, in an international friendly at Hong Kong Stadium.

Hong Kong had failed to win any of their last nine matches, a run stretching back to June 2022 when they beat Cambodia 3-0 in an Asian Cup qualification match. But they showed no signs of struggle against a Brunei team ranked 41 places below them in the FIFA rankings.

Fresh from his debut goal in last week's match against Cambodia, Lee Man's Everton Camargo kicked off the scoring by curling home from a Michael Udebuluzor pass in the twelfth minute. Udebuluzor was making his debut for the national team, having received his Hong Kong passport last week.

Despite not scoring, the 19-year-old who plays his club football in Germany posed a constant threat, and hit the woodwork twice before being substituted off in the 71st minute.

Hong Kong went into the break with a 3-0 lead. But in the second-half the floodgates really opened.

It was Camargo on the scoresheet again as he, Chan Siu Kwan and Poon Pui Hin netted two goals each, to the delight of the 6,097 spectators in attendance.

It is a result that should give the SAR some much needed confidence heading into next month's World Cup qualifiers against Bhutan.
