National security police on Thursday said they are offering HK$1 million each for information leading to the capture of five people wanted for alleged national security law violations.

That's on top of a similar reward and arrest warrants issued in July for eight other national security suspects also living overseas.

Simon Cheng, Frances Hui, Joey Siu, Johnny Fok and Tony Choi were added by police to the wanted list. They are accused of various offences such as inciting secession, inciting subversion and colluding with foreign forces.

Speaking in a press conference, Chief Superintendent Li Kwai-wah said the five suspects had betrayed the interests of the country and the SAR.

"All of them, who have already fled overseas, have continued to commit the offence under the national security law that seriously endanger national security, including incitement to secession, incitement to subversion and collusion with a foreign country or external elements to endanger national security," he said.

In a statement, a government spokesman said the SAR administration supports the national security police in taking action against the five.

"The wanted persons with reward notices have repeatedly engaged in acts and activities that endanger national security publicly, including advocating to achieve 'Hong Kong independence' through 'force' and requesting foreign countries to impose so-called 'sanctions' on officials of the Central Government and the HKSAR Government as well as judicial and law enforcement personnel. The HKSAR Government must fight head-on to fulfil its constitutional duty in safeguarding national security and uphold the principle of 'one country, two systems' and the spirit of the rule of law," the spokesman said.

Separately, the police said they arrested four people on Wednesday on suspicion of providing financial assistance for Ted Hui and Nathan Law, who are among the eight wanted suspects announced in July.

Li said the four suspects, aged between 29 and 68, are each believed to have offered Hui and Law HK$10,000 to HK$120,000 through online crowdfunding platforms.

They were being detained for enquiries.

On the co-founder of the now-defunct Demosisto party Agnes Chow, officers said she will become a fugitive if she fails to report to the police by the deadline at the end of December.
