Police have arrested six men and women in connection with a robbery at a watch shop in Causeway Bay last month.

Officers said they received a report on February 28 that three robbers armed with knives and sledgehammers had raided the watch shop on Foo Ming Street. They took 25 watches with a market value of HK$6.12 million and fled the scene in a private car.

The force later found the getaway car and subsequently arrested six suspects aged 26 to 35, three of whom were charged with robbery, while the others were detained for questioning.

All of those arrested are said to be Indonesian nationals.

Chief Inspector Lo ka-chun said this is the first time the police have found a group of Indonesians has been linked to such a case.

He said one of the women is thought to have pretended to be a customer, while a man carried out the robbery with a knife. Another woman is said to have collected the watches. Three other people were thought to have been in close contact with the gang before and after the crime.

Officers are still searching for the stolen watches.
