iPhone apps collecting data via push alerts, deepfake fears in election year, and AI device to help detect cancer

A push notification pops up on your phone and you swipe across the screen to clear it – the mere seconds between these two actions is all it takes for some of the most popular social media apps to collect data from you, if you're using an iPhone.

App developer Mysk has found that even if Facebook, X/Twitter and others apps are not open on an iPhone, they can still collect data like the user's location and keyboard language by sending them push alerts. And Mysk said such information can help apps track their users and send them the right advertisements.

How does all this work? And how can iPhone users protect their privacy? Listen to AI consultant Raj Shroff’s take on the issue.

You'll also hear about how deepfake video or audio clips can sway upcoming elections around the world, as well as an AI-powered device that can help doctors detect skin cancer in the US.
