Heavy workload poses a challenge in SEN teaching  Listenfacebook
The city's equality watchdog says educators are finding it challenging to teach students with special education needs, adding that more money is needed to better support these pupils. The Equal Opportunities Commission earlier surveyed more than 1,800 educators, including principals, teachers and special educational needs coordinators - or Sencos. More than 80 percent of them said tight teaching schedules and heavy workloads posed the biggest difficulty in implementing integrated education in schools. Rizwan Ullah is the convenor of the watchdog's policy, research and training committee. He spoke to Vanessa Cheng about the committee's findings:

eHealth app helpful for monitoring diabetes  Listenfacebook
Chinese University researchers say diabetes patients who use the government's electronic health app are 40 percent more likely to have better control of their disease than those who do not. Five years after the launch of the eHealth app in 2016, they studied over 100,000 diabetes patients with the Health Bureau for nearly a year-and-a-half. The researchers say patients who used the Health Management module in the app had better blood sugar control than other patients. Professor Martin Wong told Vanessa Cheng that the application could not replace doctor consultations, but it played an important role:
HKMA launches anti-scam charter  Listenfacebook
The Hong Kong Monetary Authority says scammers are taking advantage of increasingly advanced technology and changing consumer behaviour to milk money out of credit card users. It says the number of complaints it has received in the first five months of this year is close to matching the total number it received for the whole of last year. It has teamed up with the Association of Banks to launch a charter for merchants to pledge to help combat credit card scams. Alan Au, executive director of the authority's banking conduct department, told Samantha Butler that consumers should be more wary of fraudulent links:

A local scholar says Hong Kong can play a pivotal role in the Belt and Road Initiative as a gateway to the mainland and the rest of the world. James Wang, research director of the Belt and Road Hong Kong Centre, says the SAR is well-positioned to contribute to and benefit from Beijing's multi-billion-dollar plan. Wang also says the decade-old project has not yet fully realised its potential due to geopolitical tensions. He spoke to Kelly Yu:
1,500 restaurants offer handover discounts  Listenfacebook
Some 1,500 restaurants will be offering a 29 percent discount on selected menu items on Saturday to celebrate the 26th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the mainland. Those taking part, such as McDonald's, Pizza Hut and Maxim's, will reduce prices on selected items to 71 percent of the usual cost in a nod to July 1. Dennis Wu, the Chairman of the Hong Kong Japanese Food and Cuisine Association, told Ada Au that an across-the-board price cut was not feasible due to profit concerns:
