Police say triad activities are becoming increasingly rampant in the northern parts of the New Territories. The force issued the warning while announcing the arrests of more than 180 people in the area in the last two months over organised crime-related activities. Damon Pang reports:

The city's equality watchdog says educators are finding it challenging to teach students with special education needs, adding that more money is needed to better support these pupils. The Equal Opportunities Commission earlier surveyed more than 1,800 educators, including principals, teachers and special educational needs coordinators - or Sencos. More than 80 percent of them said tight teaching schedules and heavy workloads posed the biggest difficulty in implementing integrated education in schools. The University of Hong Kong is planning to change its rules so that its disciplinary committee can handle complaints involving conduct "considered to be bringing the university into disrepute". Chinese University researchers say diabetes patients who use the government's electronic health app are 40 percent more likely to have better control of their disease than those who do not. Five years after the launch of the eHealth app in 2016, they studied over 100,000 diabetes patients with the Health Bureau for nearly a year-and-a-half. The researchers say patients who used the Health Management module in the app had better blood sugar control than other patients. The Hong Kong Monetary Authority says scammers are taking advantage of increasingly advanced technology and changing consumer behaviour to milk money out of credit card users. It says the number of complaints it has received in the first five months of this year is close to matching the total number it received for the whole of last year. It has teamed up with the Association of Banks to launch a charter for merchants to pledge to help combat credit card scams. Some 1,500 restaurants will be offering a 29 percent discount on selected menu items on Saturday to celebrate the 26th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the mainland.
