Independent investigation needed of Fukushima plan: expert  Listenfacebook
A nuclear engineering expert, who has visited the Fukushima power station, says an independent investigation should be carried out at the tsunami-devastated nuclear facility before treated radioactive waste water is released into the Pacific Ocean. Luk Bing-lam, from City University of Hong Kong, backed calls for such a probe after an International Atomic Energy Agency review of Japan's plan declared it within international safety standards. Luk told Mike Weeks the IAEA had not given Tokyo the green light to release more than a million tonnes of contaminated water into the Pacific Ocean:
Second concrete fall at Mong Kok block  Listenfacebook
Chunks of concrete have again rained down from a building onto a busy Mong Kok street. Wednesday's incident was the second involving the same block in less than a week. No one was injured, but it has raised fresh concerns about building safety and the lack of follow up on repair notices issued by the government. Frank Yung reports:

The Secretary for Security, Chris Tang, says the government will install more cameras in public places to deter serious crime. In view of several recent knife attacks, Tang said police have also beefed up patrols of crime blackspots, shopping malls and MTR stations. Damon Pang reports:

A trade union group has walked out of a meeting with the MTR Corporation, saying its proposed salary increase for workers for this year is not good enough. It warned that if it is not improved, it will be difficult for the railway company to keep its staff. Sean Kennedy has more:

A woman has been put on probation for two years for killing her 16-day-old baby girl, by throwing her off a footbridge in Tsuen Wan last year. The court heard the woman was suffering from post-partum anxiety at the time. The judge described the case as a tragedy, as Kelly Yu reports:

At least 15 people are dead and four are missing after downpours lashed Chongqing. The heavy rains, mainly seen in the areas along the Yangtze River, have triggered floods and disrupted the lives of more than 130,000 people in nearly 20 districts and counties. Kelly Yu has the details:
