The Hong Kong Monetary Authority has announced it will retain its base rate at 5.75 percent, following the US Federal Reserve's decision to keep interest rates unchanged. The designer of a new AI mobile chatbot says her new app helped reduce the anxiety of parents of children with special education needs. Connie Chong, assistant professor at the Chinese University's School of Nursing, said her app translates spoken Cantonese into text with an 80 percent accuracy. The AI chatbot then identifies the needs of patients and provides tailor-made mental health support. She told Samantha Butler that it was the first mental health app to allow users to verbally communicate with the chatbot in Cantonese:

Thousands of people have moved to Pakistan's north-western border crossing with Afghanistan, after a deadline expired on Wednesday for all undocumented foreigners to leave the country. Police have been conducting raids across Pakistan and officials say more than 165,000 people have fled. Several politicians and rights activists have filed a petition with the Supreme Court to challenge what they called the 'mass deportation' of undocumented migrants from the country.
