Development chief Bernadette Linn says officials are open to the idea of allowing homeowners in urban areas to declare minor illegal structures at their homes. Her comments come after lawmaker Doreen Kong proposed that the policy - which applies to homeowners in the New Territories - should be expanded because of the high number of structures that need to be tackled. HK signs free trade agreements with Turkey and Peru  Listenfacebook
Chief Executive John Lee says Hong Kong has recently signed investment agreements with multiple nations, including Turkey and Peru. Speaking at an international forum, Lee also pointed out that the SAR was committed to deepening regional economic cooperation with members of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, the world's largest free trade agreement. The Hong Kong Monetary Authority has announced it will retain its base rate at 5.75 percent, following the US Federal Reserve's decision to keep interest rates unchanged. Leading local banks - HSBC, Standard Chartered and Bank of China (Hong Kong) - are also keeping their rates steady. The Monetary Authority's chief executive Eddie Yue said the local currency market remained stable even though the Fed was likely to further increase its interest rates. Anne Chan reports:

A transport analyst says he does not see the attractiveness of letting mainland and Macau drivers park at the artificial island of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, to catch a flight from the SAR. The idea was brought up in the Chief Executive's Policy Address last week. Alok Jain, CEO and managing director of Trans-consult, says there is demand for outsiders to catch flights from Hong Kong but it would be better if they could drive all the way to the airport. He also told Ben Tse that imposing quotas could prevent any possible traffic congestion from allowing in southbound traffic to the SAR:

Health authorities are investigating possible unlicensed medical practices at a beauty centre in Lai Chi Kok. Five women who received injections there have developed symptoms relating to a bacterial infection. Frank Yung reports:

The designer of a new AI mobile chatbot says her new app helped reduce the anxiety of parents of children with special education needs. Connie Chong, assistant professor at the Chinese University's School of Nursing, said her app translates spoken Cantonese into text with an 80 percent accuracy. The AI chatbot then identifies the needs of patients and provides tailor-made mental health support. She told Samantha Butler that it was the first mental health app to allow users to verbally communicate with the chatbot in Cantonese:

Over 165,000 'undocumented migrants' flee Pakistan  Listenfacebook
Thousands of people have moved to Pakistan's north-western border crossing with Afghanistan, after a deadline expired on Wednesday for all undocumented foreigners to leave the country. Police have been conducting raids across Pakistan and officials say more than 165,000 people have fled. Several politicians and rights activists have filed a petition with the Supreme Court to challenge what they called the 'mass deportation' of undocumented migrants from the country. RTHK's South Asia correspondent, Murali Krishnan, told Annemarie Evans that the new policy affected around 1.7 million people, mostly Afghans:
