An assessment by the Department of Health shows nearly three percent of students in Hong Kong thought about committing suicide in the past academic year. The study also found 1.3 percent had actually tried to kill themselves, as Kelly Yu reports:

A psychiatry professor from the Chinese University says findings by the Department of Health on student suicide are worrying. Professor Sandra Chan says the resumption of face-to-face classes after the Covid pandemic had led to increased emotional stress among students. Prosecutors in the trial of former media tycoon Jimmy Lai have told the court that introducing an English version of Apple Daily ahead of the promulgation of the national security law in 2020 was intended to garner financial and political support from outside of Hong Kong, and to lobby for foreign sanctions on Chinese and SAR officials. The prosecution also alleged that some articles published by the now-defunct outlet were intended to promote hatred against officials, and to call for "resistance" against the central and Hong Kong governments. Researchers from City University say they have found a lot more coral in Victoria Harbour than expected. They say the findings of their study show the water quality had improved in recent years. Violet Wong reports:

The manager of the coral project says he was surprised to find a 'vibrant' community of corals in the harbour where water visibility is 'quite poor'. Jeffrey Chung, a research assistant with City University's State Key Laboratory of Marine Pollution, said its scuba divers mapped five important coral habitats along the harbour, with the biggest site at Fat Tong Chau totalling 14 football pitches in size. He told Ben Tse that the coral growth showed the success of a harbour monitoring scheme:

Some Hong Kong travellers who were stranded at Tokyo's Haneda Airport for hours have praised staff there for their handling of the situation after a Japan Airlines plane collided with a coast guard plane on the runway on Tuesday. The British government says it has fulfilled a promise by prime minister, Rishi Sunak, to clear a backlog of outstanding asylum claims. Tens of thousands of migrants had been stuck in the system. But his opponents say this statement is a barefaced lie and now the country's statistics watchdog is investigating.
