On Thursday’s Backchat, elections; and overseas-trained doctors.

The next Legco elections in Hong Kong are set to be held on December 19.There are massive changes to the process at every level from multi-stage screening of candidates to redrawing constituency boundaries, re-organising functional constituencies, and a whole new category of legislators coming from a new five-sector Election Committee. As it speeds through Legco, and is promoted by the CE in her own TV show, what have we learned about how it will work, and its aim? In what way is it an improvement, as claimed by the Administration? Why is it so very complicated?

From 9:15am-9:30am, we'll be discussing overseas-trained doctors practicing in Hong Kong. Exco has endorsed a plan to attract some 200 of them to practice here. Many local doctors are not happy. What do you think about the proposal? Is it a solution to the shortage of doctors in the city? Do you trust foreign-educated doctors?
