President Xi Jinping met with representatives of the international business community in Beijing following last weekend's China Development Forum (CDF), Xinhua News Agency reported on Friday.

"China is firmly committed to advancing reform and opening up. The door of opening up will only open wider and wider," Xi told the executives, including hedge fund boss Ray Dalio and Samsung Electronics chief Lee Jae-yong.

"China is committed to high-quality development and accelerating green, digital and intelligent transformation, and has strong industrial supporting capacity," Xi said.

"Foreign enterprises in China can develop their advantages and capabilities and gain an advantage in global competition," he added.

On Thursday, Reuters reported that the global heads of German automakers BMW and Mercedes, as well as chip giant Qualcomm were among the foreign business leaders attending the meeting.

Friday's gathering also followed a similar one last year, which saw the first meeting between Xi and foreign business leaders after the CDF.

This year's CDF saw Premier Li Qiang urge countries to open their markets and combat "rising instability and uncertainty". (Agencies)
