Covid curbs extended as cases drop slightly

The number of new Covid infections dropped slightly on Monday. The figure was released after the government announced the extension of all current social distancing measures until at least July 13, citing the rise in coronavirus cases. Joanne Wong reports:

A survey suggests that around a third of music industry workers have left or want to leave Hong Kong, as they cannot perform due to Covid restrictions. The Musicians Foundation, which polled 460 workers this month, said they had been unable to make a living for the better part of the past two years, as music venues were closed or live performances were prohibited. The group's founder Chris B, who is a singer and guitarist, told Violet Wong how musicians have been affected by the pandemic:

Incoming Executive Council Convenor, Regina Ip, said there was a good chance that President Xi Jinping will attend in person the inauguration ceremony for the new Hong Kong SAR government and celebrations for the 25th anniversary of the handover. Ip said she expects the leader to make an important speech. She told Samantha Butler that if he attends, it would be significant as the president had not been out of the mainland for at least two years, and his attendance would mean that he attaches a lot of significance to Hong Kong:
