The team endures through the extremes of Arctic winter close to the North Pole. Through the 24-hour darkness they work to revolutionise our ability to monitor sea ice using satellites, and they explore how the melting ice is releasing its own damaging greenhouse gases. As the sun returns to the Arctic, the landscape is transformed. Facing perilous thinning and cracking ice, constant polar bear visits, and the threat of a global pandemic, the team are determined to explore the Arctic ice right until the last possible moment.
