节目以近代及当代香港社会史为主轴。由学者、社区人士讲述亲身见闻和研究心得，透过十三集不同的内容，包括香港、九龙和新界的出现、农业、医疗、卫生和教育等，把一些过往的共同生活经验，在行将消失和大众遗忘前纪录下来。
