●           移民英文 immigration vs migration?

-              immigrate/immigration - moving to another country

                E.g. I immigrated to the UK in 2020.

-              migration（电脑系统的）/ (信息的）迁移

E.g. Thanks for your patience during the migration to the new system.

感谢您在变更到新系统期间的耐心等待。

-              emigrate  移出

E.g. Millions of Germans emigrated from Europe to America in the 19th century.

在19世纪，数百万的德国人从欧洲移民到了美国

-              不过普通会讲 “move to”

-              “move to Australia” vs “go to Australia”

                                                I am just going to the UK for a month, I am not moving there.

●    有冇二手店买家俬furniture? 美国有thrift stores? Charity shop?英国呢？

-          couch (sofa) 英国人是否叫couch?

租屋 其实都不用买大型家电如 stove/fridge/oven

●    In Hong Kong, my husband and I like to go to Mxxxx Sxxxxxx for groceries.

喺香港 我成日都去Mxxxx Sxxxxxx/ 英国有好多间 / groceries (日常生活用品）

 

●    When you were studying in the UK, what did you normally buy when you went to the supermarket? 去到英国国supermarket经常买咩？

 

（美国其实系叫grocery store）

                          我自己会买：(我地唔讲好容易果啲啦 如meat/milk )

-          sourdough bread

-          sandwich meat

-          sour cream 酸奶油

-          salad dressing

-          frozen food （美国人经常吃/ 几行 aisles 卖frozen food）

 

●    近年收得最多的信息好像是  “Hey! I am moving back to the UK!” 我搬回英国居住！

与朋友farewell 时，会讲以下说话：

-          后会有期

-          天下无不散之筵席 / 比喻世事无常，有聚必有散，分离是不可避免的
