Film Industry in Hong Kong / Taiwan Election

On Tuesday's Backchat, we will talk about the film industry. Beijing has recently relaxed various rules for local films to enter the Mainland market, including HK film practitioners being eligible for Mainland awards, and removing restrictions on the number of Hong Kong people participating in the production of Mainland films. Are these rules attractive for the Hong Kong film industry, and will they make it grow - or die? Will Hong Kong audiences get more and better films? Or will they all become Mainland style productions, with little local impact?  Why are Hollywood movies favoured over Mainland movies in Hong Kong? After 9.;20, Taiwan politics as its richest man announces he intends to stand for President.

The group is planning to take part in the rural representative election in January, and to reform rural politics and fight against village patriarchs and the Heung Yee Kuk who long hold the political power in hand over the rural areas in the New Territories. What do they want exactly, and what's the state of rural politics? Should they swear to uphold the Basic Law and could some members be disqualified? Will it bring unwelcome urban-style politics to villages?
