The actor had gone missing after falling prey to a sham casting call in Bangkok, where he ended up being trafficked to a scam centre. While Wang is now safe, many other victims remain captives at guarded compounds where they’re forced to perpetrate online scams. Calls are now growing for the authorities to do more to rescue many others believed to still be trapped in similar compounds. How will the authorities respond?
